LOVE TRAIN? DP’ed by the MTA and TWU

By A.R. Brook Lynn

Azi takes a measured, balanced approach to the transit strike elsewhere in these pages. I need not.

Five TWU workers showed up to show solidarity on the far side of City Hall. One Irving Lee, MTA train operator, was among them, proselytizing to young radicals and holding stacks of the Daily Worker. “This is a necessary action as a consequence of years of inaction,” he said as his young disciples nodded their heads soulfully, seemingly about to break into a chant of, “Free Mumia Ab-Duie Jamally,” the fresh ink from their little Commie mimeograph machines still lingering in the bacteria underneath their fingernails.

I spent the day chasing strike lines, trying to find any TWU protesters. There were none to be found. In the days of yore coal miners formed human barricades against strikebreakers who beat them with steel rods, fighting and dying for their right to work with honor. TWU employees pranced about their depots as LIRR and Metro North workers happily pranced over their lines, which these weak-minded fiends didn’t even show up to defend.

Mobs crowded every corner of Midtown while the MTA and TWU fat cats doubtless ordered tasty sandwiches to sate the least of their gross lusts during their heated negotiations. As a “thoughtful” service for New Yorkers the TLC has divided the city up into zones. Fare is $10 within a zone and an extra $5 for crossing zones. While you’re being mugged thusly, you are crammed in with your fellow citizens, most of whom seem to wear perfume, or not bathe at all. My camera around my neck misrepresented me as a tourist, and several cabbies tried to confuse the zone issue; when pressed for a receipt or zone description they were quite hard pressed to scuttle out from under their lies. They are cockroaches.

Not only are the MTA’s inhuman bigwigs and subhuman employees squeezing every cent from the average New Yorker, but it seems as though the TLC wants in on the gang bang too. Make no mistake: We are having a train pulled on us.
